Jack Durao, 88, entered into rest on May 31, 2010 in Modesto, California. He was born on March 22, 1922 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Martinho and Virginia Durao in Poires Portugal. Jack joins his children in heaven Jackie Durao, Linda Durao and Larry Durao as well as one sister Mary Limas.

Mr. Durao is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years Altha Durao. He has 5 grandchildren Anthony Durao, Melanie Nokes, Jack Durao, Jeff Durao all of Manteca and Matt Durao of Ripon. He was blessed with 10 great-grandchildren; Anthony, Andrew, Chris, Linda, Kevin, Justin, Dakota, Taylor, Mason, and Andrew. He has two sisters Isbell Vierra of Modesto and Beatrice Cardoza of Manteca.

 Jack was a truck driver for various companies for over 40 years including Navaho Trucking and A.B.S. Trucking. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church where he was involved with the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of many different bird organizations throughout Northern California. Jack had a fascination with exotic birds. He raised many different types of birds buying and selling them to bird lovers. On the weekends many would find Jack at bird shows receiving highest honors and ribbons for his beautiful exotic birds. He was known as the “bird man” as he was always was recommended for his birds to anyone who was interested in the Northern California area. He enjoyed tending to his garden making everything just perfect. Jack was a people pleaser always friendly to everyone he came across. He loved telling stories as he was extremely social at every event and family get-together. Jack will be remembered as a wonderful father, grandfather brother and friends. He will be missed.

 Mr. Durao’s services are being handled by P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home of Manteca. Visitation will be held Sunday June 6. from noon to 4 p.m. held at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home 290 N. Union Road, Manteca. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday June 7 at 12:30 pm at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church 19399 E. Highway 120 Ripon. He will be laid to rest with his beloved children at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery – Escalon, Ca.In Lieu of flowers donations can be sent to Disabled American Veterans Department of California, 13733 E.
