74 James C. McDaniel bw

James Cross McDaniel was the oldest of nine children born to the late James and Gertrude McDaniel, of Coos Bay, Ore. When he was very young, James began working in the logging camps and the mill to help the family, where he continued to work until graduating college. He loved music and played the accordion at his church, as well as the trumpet in a national honor band which he continued through college.
James attended Biola and Simpson, and graduated from Simpson Bible College with a degree in Theology. While attending Simpson, he met and married his sweetheart, Betty June Price. He worked as an insurance broker and volunteered in the ministry while he continued to take college classes throughout his life. He earned his Master’s Degree in Theology from Liberty University when he was in his 70s.
He passed his strong work ethic and love of music to his children and grandchildren. He touched the lives of many people and maintained his quick wit and trademark sense of humor right till the end.
