James H. Button
May 2, 1936-July 6, 2011

James H. Button, entered into rest on July 6, 2011 in Manteca, California. He was born on May 2, 1936 in French Camp, California. He was 75 years old.

Mr. Button is survived by his wife of 55 years Jody Button. His two sons are Bradley Button of Angels Camp and Randell Button of Stockton. He was blessed by two grandchildren Joshua Pelis and Ashley Button both of Manteca. He has one very special great-granddaughter Kayelin Wayt. In addition, James has one sister of Manteca Connie Meintasis.

James was known to his family and friends as “Jim.” He was a resident of Manteca for over 75 years. As an adolescent Jim attended Calla Grammar School and Graduated from Manteca High School class of 1955. When Jim was 11 years old in 1947 his parents began the family business of Castle Upholstery, which was mainly car upholstery. Growing up in the business, working hand and hand with his father, Jim took over the family business after high school; expanding it to home interiors. He finally closed up shop and retired in 2002. Jim was a master craftsman; he commonly hand crafted bird houses, clocks, and other items which still stand today at the Manteca Historical Society. He was a past member of the noon Kiwanis, Golden Bearer motorcycle club and the Pacific Pacers car club. He loved tending to his roses in his yard. He had a soft heart for dogs as he loved his Boxer companion “Missy.” Jim’s perfect day always consisted of working out in his shop teaching his greatgranddaughter the tricks of woodworking. Jim always looked forward to his monthly meetings at his home with his alumni’s from Manteca High planning trips and their class reunions. Jim will be remembered as a wonderful provider and a devoted family man. He will be missed.
