Jay Bonds was born in Donaldson, Arkansas to Tom and Cora Bonds on November 3, 1926. They located to Hughson, CA in 1942. Jay did not care for school so he joined the Navy in 1944 at the young age of 17. Jay married the love of his life, Dorothy, in 1947. After the war ended Jay worked at Shell Lab in Salida. From 1952-1954 he worked as a deputy sheriff for the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department. Jay went into the dairy business from 1955-1962. In 1963 he started working for San Joaquin Valley Hay Growers Association. He retired in 1982 and began traveling. He visited 19 states and parts of Mexico. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy, and his parents.
Jay is survived by his two sons; Dennis (Yvonne) and Stan (Tricia), along with his
grandchildren; Victor (Carol), Travis, Kayla, and great-grandson Tyler, step-grandaons; Craig, Joel and Nate Diamantine. He will be dearly missed by all.
Jay will be laid to rest at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, Santa Nella, CA.
