Joan M. Costa, born on March 14, 1942, in California, passed away on August 25, 2025, in Modesto, CA. She was a respected Special Investigator for the welfare department, a role she approached with utmost dedication and seriousness throughout her career.

   Joan was known for her structured, dependable, and loving nature. She was an active member of the Spring Creek Golf Course, participating in the 9-Hole Women's Group. Her leisure time often included trips to the casino, solving crossword puzzles, and cherished moments spent in Maui, Santa Cruz, and Aptos.

   Her life was rich with family love. She is survived by her son, Paul (Casey) Costa; grandchildren Philip (Astrid Itzep) Beck, Brittany Costa, Taylor Costa, and Camryn (Gyse) Hulsebosch; and great-grandchildren Aiden Beck-Itzep, Silas Diaz Costa and Hollynd Hulsebosch. Joan was preceded in death by her daughter, Kimberly Beck, and her husband of 46 years, Gary Costa.
