"God saw that she was getting tired, so he put his arms around her and whispered, 'come to me' ". Joanne Rosalie Hall followed the hand of the Lord to eternal rest on Wednesday, March 18, 2020, in Manteca, CA. Joanne was born on March 26,1942, to Joe and Isabel Simas. She grew up in Ripon, CA and graduated from Ripon High School in 1960. It was at Ripon High that she met the love of her life, Douglas Hall.
After high school Joanne attended and graduated from San Jose State College with a teaching credential. She taught in Ripon until she and Doug married on June 19, 1965. She followed Doug to Kentucky where he served in active duty for the armed services. In Kentucky, she found a new loving role of wife and mother to their daughter Noel. Doug and Joanne returned to Manteca in 1967, and soon were blessed with a son Tony.
Once her children were in school she returned to her passion of teaching for Manteca Unified School District at New Haven School. Later she moved to Golden West School where she nurtured and mentored children until her retirement.
Joanne had a strong Christian faith and lived her life with a spiritual goal. She loved walks on the beaches of Carmel, gardening, playing the piano and sharing time with family. She loved children and was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother and sister.
She is survived by her husband, of 54 years, Douglas Hall, son, Tony Hall of Manteca, and grandson Jonathan Hall (Andrea) and great-grandchildren Aiden and Cyndell of Riverbank, brother, Ted Simas (Rita) of Ripon, sister-in-law Gwen Simas, brother-in-law Scott Hall (Jennith) of Ashland, OR and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents Joe and Isabel Simas, her daughter Noel Hall and her brother John Simas.
Private committal will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2020, at Park View Cemetery in French Camp. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice in memory of Joanne Hall.
