John B. Pinol, 50, died July 22, 2009 at his home in Valley Springs.    

John was born May 25, 1959 in Fürth, Nuremberg, Germany. He has resided in Valley Springs for 20 years and was a resident of Manteca for the 16 years prior.

He is survived by his parents Bob and Betty Pinol of Manteca; and siblings Bruce R. Pinol and wife, Terry, Bay Point, CA and William S. Pinol, Escalon. He was preceded in death by brother Bob Pinol.

John was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served for 5 years where his rank was BTII.  He received many decorations and acknowledgements; Navy Expeditionary Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (3RD), Meritorious Unit Commendation, Good Conduct Medal (1st) Navy Achievement.

John was currently a Stationary Engineer for the Department of Corrections in Mule Creek.  He attended grammar school at Sequoia Elementary School, Nile Garden Elementary School, Manteca High School, and was an East Union High School graduate Class of 1977.  He loved fishing with a passion and traveling around the world.  He enjoyed doing making pottery and stained glass.  He also collected nautical brass.  The family said, “He had a great sense of humor.”

A  Celebration of Life Service will be Thursday, July 30, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 910 E. North Street, Manteca.

Graveside Service will be private at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, 32053 W. McCabe Road, Gustine, CA.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be sent to Shriners Children’s Hospital, 2425 Stockton Blvd., Sacramento, CA, 95201.
