John McGrown Jr

John O. McGrew passed away on April 8, 2010 at Sutter Tracy Community Hospital. John was born on November 27, 1922 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. John has lived in Tracy of 63 years.

John was a U.S Army Veteran, serving during World War II, he then went to work for Tracy Defense Depot as a Supervisor for 42 years and later on retired. He enjoyed camping, fishing, trips with his grandson Steven, and trips to the casinos. John loved family gatherings around the holidays. John was a member of the Tracy American Legion post 172.

John is survived by his children Elizabeth Faey Whiteley of Manteca, Trudy McGrew and John R McGrew both of Tracy, his grandchildren Steven Lee Miller of Tracy, Lisa Faye Gibson of Manteca and Stacy Rae Smith of Tracy.
He was preceded in death by his wife the late Jannie McGrew who passed away in 2001, his siblings, the late Herbert McGrew and the late Alline Henry.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 from 2 to 5 p.m., on Thursday April 15, 2010 chapel service at 10 a.m. at Fry Memorial Chapel 550 S. Central Ave., Tracy. Final resting place will be at Tracy Public Cemetery 600 E. Schulte Road, Tracy. An online guest book will be available on-line at www.frymemorialchapel.com to send condolences to the family.  

Donations can be made to the American Cancer Assoc c/o Pancreatic Cancer Research, or the American Heart Association.
