John P. King, age 80, entered into rest on March 17, 2014, in Manteca.  He was born on January 10, 1934, in Graciosa, Azores.  He was a resident of Manteca for 53 years.  John is preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary (Picanco) King, and siblings, Guadalupe, Eugenia, Manuel, Dennis and Leo.
   John is survived by his loving wife, Mary C. King, of Manteca; his children, John P. King Jr. (Joyce), Joseph P. King (Kimberly) and David P. King (Joyce Sigler).  He was blessed with nine grandchildren and 7 great- grandchildren.  He also leaves behind his siblings, Palmira Azevedo (Tony), Olivia Estes (David), Jesualda Zahn, and Mary Brassinga (Roy).
   John retired after 32 years of service from the Wine Group in Ripon.  He was an active member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, F.E.S.M. Hall (Manteca), Luso-American, and P.F.S.A. John enjoyed woodworking, gardening and spending time at the ocean. He loved to watch his grandchildren play soccer and attend musical recitals.
   PL Fry & Son Funeral Home, 290 N. Union Road, Manteca, is honored to be serving the King family.  A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2014, from 5pm to 7pm, followed by a Rosary at 7pm at PL Fry & Son Funeral Home.  A Mass will be held on Friday, March 21, 2014 at 10:30am at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 505 E. North Street, Manteca.  Final resting place will be St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, 17871 S. Carrolton Road, Manteca.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Hospice of San Joaquin, 3888 Pacific Avenue, Stockton, CA 95204 or a charity of choice.  An online guest book is available at www.plfryandson.com.
