John Peter Pappas Jr., passed on December 15, 2022.

He is survived by his wife, Janette Duke, and their five children, Jennifer Contoplianos, Jamie Lewis (Scott), John Pappas III, Julie Pappas, Jeffrey Pappas (Nell),  and eight grandchildren.

His parents, John and Eugenia Pappas immigrated from Greece and lived in San Francisco, Ca where he and his two siblings, Elaine Bohne, and James Pappas (Marilyn) were born and raised. They relocated to Manteca, Ca in 1948 to join their extended Greek family.  John Jr. was active in all sports and excelled in basketball.  He married Janette Duke in 1957, and after serving in the US Army, he finished his BA in printing engineering at Cal Poly University.  By then John and Jan were blessed with five children. Life for John revolved around coaching youth sports for his kids. He was an avid golfer, poker player and enjoyed sports in his leisure time as a diehard Giants, 49er, and Warrior’s fan.  Professionally, he moved up the ladder in the print industry and became Vice President of Sales, and eventually started his own company, JP Enterprises, Inc.  He was a mentor to many, a loving husband, father, and grandfather.  He touched so many lives with his optimistic character and will sincerely be missed by all. May he rejoice in heaven.

A celebration of life to honor John will be held for family and friends on March 18th, in Manteca, California.

P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the Pappas family. An online guestbook is available for condolences at www.plfryandson.com
