While living in Oakland, he married his loving wife Nancy in l983. John eventually moved Nancy and his first son Jesse to Manteca, where the family grew to include Jerry, Joe, and Lena.  In l990 God provided John with a job at Neenah Paper Mill in Ripon, CA.  Working his way up to Maintenance Department Supervisor, John worked there for l9 years until the plant closed in 2009.

Athletic, John enjoyed many challenges including a century bike ride, the San Francisco Marathon, Bay to Breakers, and biking his 20 mile round trip to work in Ripon.  Adventurous, he enjoyed backpacking and hiking with his sons and friends.  Many trips to Yosemite National Park’s Half Dome and high country included his favorite destination, Cloud’s Rest at 9,927 foot elevation.  Pumping iron for many years, John was a regular at California Total Fitness, working out and socializing with his “gym buddies”.
At home, John was an avid reader of books; inspirational, westerns, and especially the Lonesome Dove Series.  Above all, John loved to spend time with his Lord daily, and reading his Bible.  John lived out his faith through spiritual leadership of his family and family activities. He was always involved in various church ministries, most recently working with youth at Northgate Community Church.  John and Nancy were also part of the Hope Ministries feeding of the hungry program in Modesto, CA.

John went to be with his Savior and Lord on October 14, 2010 at Doctor’s Hospital, surrounded by his family.  He is survived by his wife Nancy Adams and children Jesse and Tiffany Adams, Jerry Adams and finance’ Nicole Stroman, Joe Adams, and daughter Lena Adams.
