Johnnie Lee Norton, 62, a Manteca resident for over 25 years passed away suddenly on Friday, March 19, after a short battle with cancer. He was born April 17, 1947 in Tonasket, Washington, the 11th of 12 children born to the late Willis and Etha Norton. In heaven he joins his parents and his siblings Glen Norton, Robert Norton, Delores Parks and Shirley Harris.

Mr. Norton was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served as a Sergeant in the Vietnam War. John was a truck driver whose career spanned for over 38 years. He drove trucks for Safeway for over 12 years. In his final years he drove for Tuff Boy in Manteca.

He leaves behind his loving wife of nearly 12 years, Josie M. Norton; siblings Irene Haufle, Betty Jean Williams, Marion Cribby, Bennie Norton, Herbie Norton, Carolyn Clark and Nancy Schaller. John will be remembered as a loving husband, brother, friend. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

Arrangements are under the direction of P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home, 290 North Union Road, Manteca. Remembrances can be made in John’s name to the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
