Jose G. Ornelas, 77, died Monday, July 20, 2009 at Doctors Hospital of Manteca. He was born on April 15, 1932 in Mexico. He lived in Manteca for 30 years.

Mr. Ornelas is survived by his wife of 47 years, Maria Guadalupe Ornelas; children, Jose J. Ornelas and wife Cynthia of Springville, Utah, Sylvia Saldate and husband Samuel of Ceres, and Richard A. Ornelas of Manteca; siblings, Plutarco Ornelas and wife Maria, Jesus Ornelas and wife Maria De La Luz all of Stockton, and Maria Del Socorro and husband felix of Elizalde; sister-in-law, Anna Ornelas of Stockton; grandchildren, Erika Saldate, Samuel Saldate Jr., Erick Ornelas, Sergio Saldate, Joshua Ornelas and Emma Ornelas and great-granchild, Gabriella Long. He was preceded in death by siblings, Angelita Ornelas, Cecilia Ornelas and Roman Ornelas.

Jose retired as a forklift operator after over 30 years; he always will be remembered as a hard working man. A devote member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Manteca. He loved soccer, where he coached and played in Manteca and Stockton for many years. He enjoyed traveling with the family. Jose was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend to many who knew him.

Visitation will be Monday, July 27, from 3 to 6 p.m. at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home; Rosary will follow at 6 p.m. at P.L. Fry & Son. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, July 28, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 505 E. North Street, Manteca, CA 95336. Final resting place will be St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, 17871 S. Carrolton Road, Escalon, CA 95320.
