Josefina Sáenz, 94, entered into rest on June 28, 2021 at her home in Manteca surrounded by her loving family. Awaiting her arrival in heaven were her mother, father and her adored husband, Saúl Sáenz. Josefina and Saul were both born in Julimes, Chihuahua, Mexico. Saul was born December 21, 1924 and entered into rest November 17, 2020.
Saul and Josefina leave behind their loving daughters, Lucy Madrigal and husband Luis of Manteca, Sylvia Garibay and husband Eduardo of Manteca, Carolina Galaviz and husband Javier of Southern, California and Sandra Saenz Urias of Southern, California. They were blessed with eight grandchildren, Lisa, Erica, Eddie, Ryan, Stephanie, Javier, Monica and Makayla. In addition, they have eight great-grandchildren, Joseph, Alyssa, Isabella, Nikki, Victor, Isaiah, Jaclyn and Hendrix.
In 1950, Saul married the love of his life, Josefina Franco. Together with their first-born, Lucy, they migrated to the United States. In 1953, they made their home in Manteca and lived here ever since. Saul never steered away from hard work in the agriculture industry and retired as a Farm Labor Contractor. Josefina retired from Eckert Cold Storage in 1991 after 35 years of working in the cannery industry. Making many friends along the way, Saul and Josefina became pioneers for many immigrant families. As faithful Catholics, they attended Spanish mass every Sunday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church where they served as Eucharistic Ministers, usher, and volunteered at church functions and events. Their home was their sanctuary, full of love and safeguard for their daughters and families. Where all felt the grace and the adoration that Saul and Josefina shared. It was a true testimony of love and respect. After 71 years of marriage, Saul entered heaven seven months prior to Josefina. They will both be remembered as being the most loving parents, amazing grandparents and wonderful friends. They will be deeply missed.
Due to the pandemic, the Saenz family was not able to celebrate mass to honor Saul, therefore there will be a joint celebration of life mass for both Saul and Josefina.
P.L. Fry is honored to serve the Saenz family. Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 505 East North Street, Manteca, CA. Josefina will be laid to rest with her husband at St. John’s Catholic Mausoleum, 17871 S. Carrolton Road, Escalon, CA.
