Joseph Camara, 94, entered into rest on June 23, 2011 in Manteca, California. He was born on November 5, 1916 in Rochester, New York. Joseph is preceded in death by his first wife of 49 years Evelyn Camara.

Mr. Camara is survived by his wife of 16 years Rose Camara of Manteca. His children are Evelyn Long and husband Hugh, Joseph Camara Jr., Robert Camara and wife Alice, Michael Camara, Raymond Camara and wife Michelle and Larry Johnson who was like a son to him and his wife Denise. His step-children are Helen Neal and husband Bill and Daniel Mello. Joseph was blessed with 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. In addition Joseph has numer-ous step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren who he loved dearly.

Joseph was known to his family and friends as Joe or Mr. C. He was a Veteran of WWII proudly serving his country through the Army Air Force from 1944-1946. He retired after 33 years of service from General Motors Automotive as an assembly repairman. He was a resident of the San Joaquin River Club in Tracy for 29 years. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Cabrillo Club, and the MRPS Hall. Joe loved to sing and so-cialize. He has a passion for bowling as he was currently on three different bowling leagues at the Manteca Strike Zone. He enjoyed playing numerous games of solitaire daily just to make the time go by fast in order to get to the next game of bowling. Joe was very ac-tive in his community; he loved his friends at Merrill Gardens as he always looked forward to their spe-cial events of dancing, din-ners, and outings. Joe had an infectious smile, he loved to joke as he always had a gift of making your day a little brighter. Joe will be remembered as a devot-ed husband, a wonderful fa-ther and an amazing grand-father. He will be missed.

Mr. Camara’s services are being handled by P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home of Manteca. A memorial will be held on Friday, July 1, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at P.L. Fry & Son, 290 N. Union Rd., Manteca.
