Joseph Richard Russell passed away at his home with his family in Oregon at the age of 81. He was born on June 7, 1927. He lived in Manteca for the last 40 years. He was a World War II vet. He retired from Libbey-Owens-Ford in 1990.  Mr. Russell was a minister with a Pentecostal Church of God for the last 50 years and worked as a missionary with the American Indians until his death.

Mr. Russell is survived by his wife of 60 years Virginia Russell; 3 children: Shirley Bowers of Sacramento, Richard Russell of Lathrop and Kathy Troy of Oregon; 6 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, March 19, from 4-7 p.m. at the Park View Memorial Chapel, 3661 E. French Camp Road, Manteca. Friends are invited to attend funeral services Friday March 20, at 11 a.m. at Freedom Christian Center, 700 N. Union Road in Manteca. His final resting place will be at Cherokee Memorial Park, Highway 99 & Harney Lane in Lodi. Arrangements are being handled by Park View Funeral Home, 3661 E. French Camp Road, Manteca.
