Joyce “Joy” DeSoto passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, Jan. 28, at age 67.

Joyce was born June 6, 1941 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the only child of Curtis and Lottie Green.  While still a young child, Joyce moved to Southern California with her widowed mother, then to Northern California, where she lived for over 60 years.  Joyce graduated from Manteca High School.  After marrying Frank DeSoto in 1958, Joyce and Frank lived in several other Northern California cities before moving back to Manteca in 1982.

Joyce is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Frank DeSoto; and children Sherri DeSoto of Modesto, Frank DeSoto Jr. of Blair, Nebraska, and Brian DeSoto of Modesto.  Joyce was the devoted grandmother of Lea, Amy, Heather, April, Ian and Audrey.  She is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren.

Joyce will be remembered as a wonderful wife and mother who loved reading, playing cards, playing games on her computer, watching Clint Eastwood movies, and camping by the ocean.  One of Joyce’s greatest pleasures was spending winters with Frank on their property in Arizona, where she could ride her off-road vehicle in the desert.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 3, at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home at 290 N. Union Road, Manteca.  Final resting place is Park View Cemetery. Following the service, a reception will be held at the Tracy Elk’s Lodge at 6400 W. 11th Street in Tracy.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Lung Association.
