Juanita Jeanne (Kranovich) Murchie, 84, of Manteca, California passed away in Castro Valley, California, on April 21, 2022.  Jeanne was born on February 21, 1938 to Nick and Juanita Kranovich in Ruth, Nevada.  After marrying James R. Murchie in Ely, Nevada on May 10, 1953, they settled in Bremerton, Washington.  The family moved to California in April 1959.

   Jeanne was a homemaker foremost but worked for a time at Mendenhall Junior High in Livermore as a classroom aide and later as an assistant to a surgeon in Manteca.

   Jeanne was an active woman who kept busy working at Nearly New Thrift Shop and making cards for friends and family until her hospitalization.  She also knitted children’s sweaters for charity and baked yummy treats for neighbors and family.  Jeanne was active at St. Paul’s Methodist Church and was a member of various committees and groups in the church. Travel was important to her and whether overseas or in the states you could find her studying a map to help with navigation.

Jeanne was especially proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.       

   She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Schanner, Karen and Calvin Sakamoto, grandchildren, Ross (Gina) Sakamoto, Tai (Justin) Russotti and Erin (Romeo) Aberin, great-grandchildren, Mia, Wesley, Rocco, Olivia, Kylie, Elinor and Emma.  She is also survived by her sister-in-law Lucille (Jerry) Robison and brother-in-law John (Helen) Murchie.
