Juanita Joy Hearty, 88, entered into rest on January 19, 2010 in Modesto, California. She was born on November 6, 1921 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Clarence and Flossie Adams. She joins her parents in heaven as well as her daughter Karen Karnes, her first husband of 4 years Ernie Karnes, her second husband of 35 years Melvin Hearty and her siblings Orville Adams, Kenneth Adams, Denton Adams, and Marie Adams Moore.

Mrs. Hearty is survived by her loving nieces and nephews; Cheryl Russell and husband Dean of Modesto, Kim Roland and husband Steve of Ripon, Darrol Adams of AZ, Carrol Adams and wife Shannon of Manteca, and Lonnie Moore and wife Janice of Nevada.  In addition Juanita had many other great nieces and nephews in Manteca and many more in the Oregon and Idaho areas who loved her dearly.

Juanita was a 40-year resident of Modesto and previously of Manteca. She owned and operated Courtesy Meat Market in Manteca with her husband Mel and her sister and brother-in-law Al and Marie Moore. Juanita also worked at Sharps Army Depot where she was the secretary to the Colonel. While working at Sharps Army Depot Juanita meet a dear friend named Marian. Juanita, her sister Marie and Marian formed a professional trio. The trio would travel to different Army bases to perform from 1953-1957. She loved music and enjoyed dancing. Juanita kept a beautiful home always keeping everything immaculate. She found peacefulness in tending her yard and keeping everything just perfect. Juanita will be remembered as a very special auntie and friend.

Mrs. Hearty services are being handled by P.L .Fry & Son Funeral Home of Manteca. A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at 11 a.m. at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home 290 N. Union Road, Manteca. She will be laid to rest at Park View Cemetery.
