Julie Hedegard, a beloved lifelong resident of Manteca, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2025, at the age of 95. She was born on February 12,1930, in Ripon, California.

Julie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Sanford N. Hedegard; her parents Antone and Anna Teunissen; her children, Bill Platt, Bob Platt, and Carl Hedegard; and all twelve of her siblings, making her the last of the Teunissen family where she was the cherished matriarch.

She is survived by her children: Sandra Mitchell (JD - deceased), Stan Hedegard (Debbie - deceased), Tom Hedegard (Diane), and Cindy Hedegard. Julie's legacy also lives on through her nine grandchildren: Brad Mitchell, Danielle Weatherbie, Thomas Hedegard, Tara Schlecht, Tori Devencenzi, Desiree Platt, Lacey Buffard, Billy Hedegard, and Carly Hedegard.

Julie's life was defined by devotion, to her husband, her children, her grandchildren, and her community. A stay-at-home mother, she created a warm and loving home filled with the aroma of her exceptional cooking. She was well known for her canning, and especially her famous pomegranate jelly, which brought family, neighbors, and friends back year after year.    Creative at heart, Julie enjoyed ceramics, crafting, and painting. She loved her trips to local casinos; especially Jackson. She always cherished spending time with her family; she adored babysitting her grandchildren, who were truly the joy of her life. Julie found happiness in her garden, daylilies being her favorite, and in her unique extensive doll collection.  Known for her kindness and hospitality, Julie never met a stranger. Her home was always open, with coffee, pie, and cookies ready to share.

Julie will be remembered as a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother, and a true matriarch whose generosity, warmth, and open heart touched all who knew her.

Honoring her deep roots and lifelong connection to the city donations may be made to the Manteca Historical Society 600 W Yosemite Ave, Manteca, CA 95337
