On April 15, 2011, our special angel, Kyla Rhae Virtue, was called back home to God’s arms, ending her battle with cancer.
A young and beautiful woman, she was a mother, a wife, a sister, a daughter, a granddaughter, an aunt, a cousin, a niece, and a friend. She touched everyone’s life in her own special way.
Kyla was born on February 6, 1980, in Pueblo, CO, to James and Susan Winget. Growing up, Kyla lived in Colorado, Utah, and New Mexico. While attending University of New Mexico, she met the love of her life, Joey Virtue. She moved to Galt, CA, to start a new life with Joey. She became an instant member of his family, loved by all.
They soon started a family of their own, having a daughter, Bailey Francis, followed by a son, John James Mason. Her family made all her dreams come true. She never ceased to amaze those around her, by her always welcoming smile, her sense of adventure and wonder, and her creative talent – no matter what she attempted to do. Her final dream came true when Kyla and Joey bought their home in Manteca, CA.
Being a wife and a mother meant the world to Kyla. Struggling to endure, her final thoughts and wishes were for Joey and her children; that all her family promise to be instrumental in the raising of her children. Though she spent the last months of her life fighting cancer, she never gave up. She stayed strong, had faith and hope. She was a natural “Wonder Woman.”
Kyla is survived by her husband Joey of Manteca; her children, Bailey Francis and John James Mason; her father-in-law Jack Virtue of Galt; her mother-in-law Sue Virtue of Galt; her brother and his wife, Dane and Sara Winget of MN; her father James Winget of CO; her mother Susan Helms of CO; her grandparents Faith and Andrew Stegon of CO; her sister-in-law Shannon Virtue of Galt; brother-in-law Brett Virtue of Galt; nieces Jodie, Sierra, and Hannah Virtue of Galt; nephew Brian Virtue of Galt; nieces Marisa and Evelyn Winget of MN; nieces Katie Vaz and Gabbie Gregorio of Galt; cousins Kelley Riolo and Frank Gregorio of Acampo; aunt Sara Lohse of Acampo; aunt and uncle, Larry and Lo Winget of CO; aunt and uncle, Randy and Anna Virtue of Orangevale; aunt and uncle, Lynn and Jim Snell of UT; cousins Drew Rosa, Dean Rosa, Fallon Demet, and Shea Thompson, all of UT; uncles Brad Stegon of CO and Andrew Stegon of CA; as well as many, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
To all that knew and loved Kyla, the loss of this vital, young woman is immeasurable. Words cannot express how much Kyla will be missed by all who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace.
