Lawrence Cervantes, 84, entered into rest on April 4, 2015 in Manteca CA. He was born September 5, 1930 in McCook Nebraska. He is preceded in death by his sister Victoria. He is survived by his wife Alice and his children, David, Carmen, Loreen (Rick) Ferreira, Alphonso (Patricia), Monica (Abraham) Rego. In addition he is surviving by his 5 siblings, Jesse, Raymond, Irene, Louis and Martin. He was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Lawrence was born in McCook Nebraska and grew up in Garden City, Kansas. After graduating high school; he enlisted in the U.S Army, proudly serving his country for 4 years as an infantry medic and supply clerk from 1951 – 1955. He was stationed in Germany. Lawrence received an honorable discharge from the army and married the love of his life Alice, who he met in 1949 in Lamar, Colorado at a dance hall. After Lawrence’ time in service, Lawrence and Alice found each other again in Los Angeles (LA), where they soon married. In 1965 they moved to the Bay Area, Milpitas, and lived there for 35 years and raised five children. Lawrence worked for General Motors in Fremont and retired at the GM plant in Oklahoma. He and his wife have made their homes in Manteca since 1999.  Lawrence was a history buff and enjoyed reading, painting and gardening. He was an avid Dodger fan; constantly cheered his team to victory! He loved getting family and friends together for barbeques; were he was always at the grill cooking up good meals for everyone. He enjoyed listening to music of all genres but especially loved the Texas Tornadoes and Mariachi. Lawrence will be remembered as a kind, and giving person who loved his family unconditionally. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. 

P.L Fry & Son Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Cervantes family. A visitation will be held at P.L Fry & Son Funeral Home, 290 N. Union Rd Manteca, CA on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 from 1 to 7 p.m. followed by Rosary at 7 p.m. A Mass will be held on Thursday April 16, 2015 at 11am at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church 505 E North St. Manteca. Following the Mass, the family invites all of you to attend the burial at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park 48800 Warm Springs Blvd, Fremont CA 94539.
