Lela Mae Copeland, 76, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 24. A lifelong resident of Manteca she was born September 13, 1933 in French Camp to the late Robert W. Copeland and Lela Z. Copeland. In heaven she joins her parents and brother Michael C. Copeland.

Ms. Copeland or “Sis” as she is best known to her family and friends, leaves behind her cherished siblings, Wallace Copeland, Robert J. Copeland, Josephine Goodin, Roberta Stevens and husband Bob, Barbara Copeland, all of Manteca; Hazel Parsons and husband Ron of Oregon, Linda Duggan and husband Terry of Ripon, Karen Herrington and husband Bob of South Lake Tahoe. Lela was also blessed by several nieces and nephews.

Lela attended Yosemite Grammar School and Manteca High School; a 1952 graduate of MHS, she was involved with the 4-H club. A devoted Christian, Lela was a member of First Baptist Church where she served the Lord faithfully.

Lela enjoyed the simple things in life; crocheting, sewing, and embroidery. Sis also found great joy in baking; she loved decorating wedding and birthday cakes.

Lela will always be forever remembered as a loving sister, aunt and friend; all who knew her will dearly miss her.

Arrangements for Ms. Copeland are being handled by P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home, 290 North Union Road, Manteca. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 3, at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 715 East North Street.
