Leo J. Duffy, 92, entered into rest on March 10, 2009 in Manteca, California. He was born on December 9, 1916 in Ottawa, Illinois, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Leo and Julia Duffy. He was a resident of Manteca for the past 45 years. He joins his beloved wife in heaven, Annette Duffy.

Mr. Duffy is survived by his loving family: children, Patricia Roux of Manteca, Leo Dennis Duffy of Lodi, Shelia Gale of Manteca, Maureen Iorio of Manteca, Nora Mary Foehringer and husband David of Manteca, Cara Duffy Swartz and husband Cliff of Napa, Calif.; siblings, Rose Mary Dix of Morgan Hill, and Kathleen Strange and husband Fred of Arkansas. He was also blessed by 18 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

Leo retired from Libby-Owens-Ford (L.O.F.) after 45 years of service. He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps, St. Vincent de Paul boosters club, and the bowling team of L.O.F. Leo was a devoted Catholic; he was a member and an active parishioner for over 45 years. Leo and his family joined St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church the same week they moved to Manteca; from that time on, Leo along with his wife never missed a Mass at St. Anthony’s. Leo had an amazing sense of humor. He was a hard worker and had tremendous work ethics that he instilled in his children and grandchildren. He loved the outdoors; canoeing and camping were some of his favorites. Leo also enjoyed traveling, reading and especially tools; he had just about every craftsman tool available to mankind. His Pomeranian, Toby, was his true companion; he loved him dearly. Family was always number one in Leo’s life. He loved being surrounded by each and every one of them. His greatest joy was being a grandfather. He cherished every moment he spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Leo will be remembered as a positive man who had great character.
