Longino Soto passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Monday, February 14, 2011. He was born in Labor Nuevo Julimes Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico on March 15, 1921. He immigrated to the United States with his growing family where he worked at Sunland Park Derby in New Mexico before moving to Manteca where he worked as a farm laborer for many years before joining Raymus Housing Development working as a construction/ maintenance man where he retired in 1987. He was preceded in death by his eldest son, Adam Soto. He is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Carmen Soto, and his children and their families: Maria Antonia and Vicente Villegas of Manteca, Eva and Lupe Anaya of Manteca, Pablo Ramon Soto of Manteca, Lorenzo Soto of Manteca, Carmen and Raymond Moreno of Sacramento, and only one surviving brother, Lauriano and LaLa Soto of Manteca. He was dearly loved by 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 6 great- great-grandchildren. Longino was a hardworking, loyal and loving man. He enjoyed family gatherings, listening to music, dancing, working outdoors and sitting on his La-Z-Boy recliner watching TV with pet dog “Chispita”. Although he will be greatly missed, he will forever remain in our hearts. Descanse en Paz, Papa y Abuelito. Arrangements for Mr. Soto are under the direction of P.L. Fry and Son Funeral Home, 290 North Union Road, Manteca. A visitation will be held on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011 from 1 to 7 p.m. with a Rosary immediately following at 7:00 p.m. at P.L. Fry. A Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, Feb. 18, 2011 at noon at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 19401 East Highway 120, Ripon, CA. He will be laid to rest at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery.
