Lori Rae McNichols, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 19, 2013, at her home in Ripon. She was 56. Born November 29, 1956 in Chico, CA, Lori was the daughter of Raymond Rice of Mokelumne Hill and Norma Rice of Atherton, CA. A resident of Ripon for 28 years, she is survived by her husband of 33 years, Don McNichols, their five children, Heather Boring, Holly Arroyo, Derek, Roseanne Godfrey, and Alyssa. Five grandchildren (sixth on the way), her parents, brother Ray Rice and sister Elizabeth Rice, and many nieces and nephews.

Lori grew up and attended school in Chico, including a year at California State University, Chico. She also attended the University of Utah in Salt Lake City for two years as a ballet major, and Salt Lake Business College, where she earned her CNA certificate. She was married to husband Don at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Chico, and they were later sealed in the Oakland, CA, LDS Temple. A lifelong interest in the medical field and special concern for the aged led to employment at various points with several convalescent hospitals and a seven-year stint at Doctor’s Hospital of Manteca.  Her first priority and greatest love was always her family. Lori loved all sorts of crafts, collecting ornaments and knick-knacks to decorate her home for the holidays, and caring for animals, which led to having her own pet-sitting business. She always threw herself with great passion into any endeavor she pursued. In her later years she was an avid researcher and collector of family history.

Funeral arrangements are by Deegan Funeral Home and services will be held Thursday, April 25, 2013, at 3:00 p.m. following a 2:00 p.m. visitation at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 6060 Northland Road, Manteca, CA.

Refreshments will be served following the services. Private burial will take place at Stirling City Cemetery in Stirling City, CA.
