With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Lydia Kalebjian, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and longtime resident of Ripon, California.
Lydia lived a life centered around family, generosity, and community. She was the loving wife of the late Richard Kalebjian and found her greatest joy in the company of those she loved.
She is survived by her mother, Amelia Hernandez; her children, David Castellanos (Erin Weldon), Melisa Power (Bryan), and Jesse Castellanos; her grandchildren, Dorian Castellanos and Vicente Power; her stepson, Richard Kalebjian Jr. (Sarah); her siblings, Vicky Banuelos, Maria Montellano, Lina Ureste, Anita Perez, Martin Perez, and Maurico Welper; and many beloved godchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Lydia dedicated much of her professional life to public service in Ripon, working with the Ripon Police Department and later with the Ripon Unified School District. Her work was marked by warmth, professionalism, and an unwavering dedication to those around her.
Lydia had a zest for life and a gift for making lasting connections. She found joy in family gatherings, spontaneous conversations, and traveling with dear friends. She had an infectious laugh, a confident presence, and a generous heart that touched everyone she met. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at her Ripon Community Center at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 29, 2025. Please RSVP at https://pp.events/beDQG737 if you plan to attend. Interment at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Escalon, CA, is a private family affair.
