Marcella Adelaide Veldstra, 80, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2022 while doing what she loved, cruising, this time in the Mediterranean. Marcella was born on December 13, 1941 as a 7th generation Californian to parents, Henry and Ruth Fitch in Albany, CA.

She has been a resident of the Modesto area for the past 60 years. After graduating from nursing school, Marcella worked as an RN for Memorial Hospital for 52 years. She had a love for photography and enjoyed traveling, especially to Hawaii. She loved spending time in her yard and taking care of her cats and dog. She loved hosting family get togethers and spent countless hours cooking for her family and friends. Her absolute joy in life were her two granddaughters, Lenna and Lyndee. She brought such adventure to our lives, taking her family on trips and introducing them to things they would have never done if it weren’t for her. She will be remembered for her pure thoughtfulness, unfailing loyalty and her extraordinary kindness. She had the

incredible ability to make friends wherever she went and never had a bad word to say about anyone.

Marcella leaves behind her husband of 36 years, Albert Veldstra, her children, Jeremy Veldstra (Colette) and Leiska Hillman (Zach), her grandchildren, Lenna and Lyndee Veldstra and her brothers, Jim Fitch of Missouri and John Fitch of Oroville, CA. Marcella also leaves behind several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Deegan Funeral Chapel is honored to serve the Veldstra family. A graveside service is scheduled for Monday, November 28th, at

10:00 a.m. at Burwood Cemetery followed by a

memorial service at 11:30 at Immanuel Christian Reformed Church in Ripon. Donations in Marcella’s memory may be made to Bethany Home in Ripon.
