Maria Carmen Meno, fondly known to all as China, passed away due to natural causes on May 3, 2010 in Tracy, CA.  She was 83.  Born Maria Carmen Negrete on June 3, 1926 in Chapala, Jalisco, Mexico, she has called Tracy her home for the past 62 years.

Maria was the owner of La Gloria Café in Tracy along with her husband, the late Alfredo Mena.  She was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church.  She was an avid gardener, a great cook who always had so much great food in her home, and she helped raise and take care of not only her own family but of everyone else.  Her most prized past time was spending time with her many good friends and especially her family.

Her survivors include: her children: Carmen Lara of Tracy; Yolanda Amezquita and husband Alberto of Tracy; Irma Rivera and husband Jaime of Manteca; Alfredo Mena of Tracy and Louisa Almazon of Austin, TX; her grandchildren: Pete Lara of Tulare; Sylvia Maestre of Tracy; Alberto Amezquita Jr. of Tracy; Jennifer Rivera of Manteca; Vanessa Carrera of Manteca; Krystal Mena of Tracy; Gabriel Mena of Tracy and Bobby Rivera of Manteca; her great-grandchildren: Mercedies Maestre of Tracy; Angelica Lara of Tulare and Brianna Lara of Tulare; and her siblings: Yolanda Silva of Guadalajara, Mexico, and Adalberto Negrete of Manteca.

She was preceded in death by her husband Alfredo Mena, 2 brothers and 1 sister.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 10, 2010 from 3 to 7 p.m. with a vigil service to follow at 7 p.m. both at Fry Memorial Chapel 550 S. Central Ave., Tracy.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church 163 W. Eaton Ave., Tracy.  Her final resting place will be at Tracy Public Cemetery.  An online guestbook is available at www.frymemorialchapel.com to send your condolences to the family.
