Maria Durrer passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at her home in Ripon on November 5, 2023, at the age of 56. Maria was born on June 16, 1967, to parents, Fotios and Varvara Iordanoglou in Nikaia, Greece.

Maria’s family immigrated to Michigan when Maria was 2 years old. They moved to California when Maria was 8 years old. She then grew up in Downey, CA and it was there that she met the love of her life, Ted Durrer. The two married, started a family and moved to Ripon in 1993 where they have remained ever since.

Maria had a unique creative ability. She could master any DIY project and became her own “handyman.”  She loved to travel with her husband Ted. She enjoyed spending her summers on the beach back in Greece and as much time as she could in the beautiful San Diego. She could often be found with a book

in her hand, and she always seemed to be reading something, or on Saturday mornings, coffee in hand, yard selling. Above all else, Maria dedicated her life to her family. She would always make time for her children and grandchildren, her biggest joy in life was being a “Yiayia.” Her love, faithfulness and

unending generosity will be deeply missed by everyone that knew her.

Maria leaves behind her husband of over 38 years, Ted Durrer, her parents and her children, Justin Durrer (Michelle), Pamela de la Torre (Josh), Ryan Durrer (Alexis) and Andrew Durrer (Jessica) along with her grandchildren, Maximus Durrer, Alexa Durrer, Apollo Durrer, Titus de la Torre, Athena Durrer, Alena de la Torre, Vasilios Durrer, Evanthia Durrer, Elias de la Torre, Dimitra Durrer and Melina Durrer. Maria

also leaves behind her brothers, Peter Jordanoglou (Michelle) and Gus Jordanoglou (Laurie). Although

her time on this earth was short in her family’s eyes, she has left behind an incredible legacy which will

live on for generations to come.

Deegan Funeral Chapel is honored to serve the Durrer family. A Trisagion will be held on Thursday, November 9, at 6:00 p.m. at Deegan Ripon Memorial Chapel and a Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 10, at 9:00 a.m. at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Modesto. In lieu of flowers, donations in Maria’s memory may be made to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church.
