Maria Esteves, 96, entered into rest on November 4, 2014 in Ripon, CA. She was born on January 14, 1918 in Manteca, CA. She joins her husband Manuel Esteves Jr. and her brothers Pedro and Raymond Huarte, in heaven.
   Mrs. Esteves is survived by her children; Michael Esteves (Rose) and Anne Esteves. She was blessed by four grandchildren; Eugene Rawlins (Lori), Gregory Rawlins (Stephanie), Ryan Esteves (Casey) and Lisa Esteves. She adored her eight great-grandchildren; Kaylee, Jacob, Logan, Vanessa, Tatem, Ryder, William and Deegan and her great-great-grandchildren; Liana, Aria, Kevin and Nevaeh.
   Maria was a devoted Catholic and a life time member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Manteca. Maria was employed at SSJID for 20 years. She enjoyed collecting antiques where she was a past member of the Jolly Junkers Antiques and Collectibles. During WWII she was a member of the Manteca Observation Post, where she was assigned to watch for enemy aircraft from the grounds of Calla School. In 1943 Maria joined the “WAVES” (Woman Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service), which was in response to the patriotic call for volunteers. Maria went to Hunter College in New York for six weeks of accelerated training as a clerk and was then sent to the Naval Air Station Base at New Orleans, where she spent her entire tour. She enjoyed her time as a Senior Peer Counselor and as a sewing leader for 4-H. Her most proud moments and memories in life always included her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; she loved each of them unconditionally.
   P.L. Fry is honored to be serving the Esteves family. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. followed by a rosary/vigil service at 7:00 p.m. both held at P.L. Fry & Son, 290 N. Union Rd., Manteca. Mass will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 525 E. North St., Manteca. She will be laid to rest at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to Bethany Home, 930 W. Main St., Ripon, CA. 95366 or St. Mary’s Dining Hall, 545 W. Sonora,Stockton, CA. 95203.
