Maria “Theresa” Winninghoff passed away on January 21, 2009 at Dameron Hospital of Stockton.

She was born on December 4, 1933 in Armero, Colombia, South America. She was the youngest of nine siblings. She grew up in Bogota and then immigrated to the United States in the early 1960s where she met her husband, Paul Winninghoff, an electronics engineer from Philipsburg, Montana. Together they raised two daughters, Lynn and Ivy, and cared for Theresa’s older sister Fulvia in Sunnyvale. Theresa was a very loving and caring wife and mother. She was member of St. Cyprian’s Parish where she and her husband co-chaired the Bingo Committee for several years.

On July 4, 1988 Theresa survived a massive stroke. In 1992, Theresa became a resident of Manteca where she was cared for by her husband and daughters. She lived through the birth of nine grandchildren.

Theresa is survived by her husband of 44 years, Paul Winninghoff; daughters, Lynn Poncini and husband, Joe of Manteca, and Ivy Barragan and husband Fernando of Manteca; sisters Isabel Rojas of Bogota, and Lilia Vejarano of Bogota; and grandchildren Monica Poncini, Alex Barragan, John Poncini, Sophia Barragan, Matthew Poncini, Joseph Poncini, Lucia Barragan, Melissa Poncini and Jenna Poncini.

Mrs. Winninghoff’s services are being directed by P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home of Manteca. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at 1 to 7 p.m. followed by a Rosary at 7 p.m. at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home, 290 N. Union Road, Manteca. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday January 29, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Lucy’s Catholic Church in Campbell, California. Burial will be at Gates of Heaven Cemetery in Los Altos.
