Marie Eggink Van Veldhuizen 

March 31, 1930 to August 31, 2018


   Marie was called home to heaven by her Lord on August 31.  She was born in Vona, Colorado to Dick and Mattie Eggink and was the third of seven daughters.  When Marie was at the age of four the family moved to Ripon, California.   Marie graduated in 1948 from Ripon Christian High School.   She met the love of her life Albert Van Veldhuizen in Ripon and got married in 1952.  They had four children together.  The family eventually moved to Lemoore, CA and settled in Lodi, CA as Albert established a banking career.

   It was in Lodi when the family attended Vinewood Community Church where they formed many lasting relationships.  Marie and Al met their friends, Walt and Dolly Friesen at Vinewood.  Walt Friesen worked with Marie together at the church delivering

adult lessons for the congregation which provided a lasting impact on the local community. 

   In 1970 Marie attended Sacramento State and received her Psychology degree and then went on to receive a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology at the University of San Francisco in 1974.    She volunteered for the California Youth Authority for several years.  She then opened her family practice called the Lodi Family and Guidance Center.  In 2005 she and Albert moved to Rocklin, Ca. where she continued her practice from home office in Rocklin, California and maintained that practice until she was 86.    Marie is survived by two daughters and two sons-in-law, June Van Veldhuizen-Getz and Ken Getz and Kathi Driscoll and Jeff Driscoll.  In addition, Marie has three surviving sisters and brother-in-law, Marian Van Spronsen, Charlotte and Bill Viss and Nancy Schuller.           Marie was predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years, Albert and her son Albert John Van Veldhuizen, daughter Lynn Hart and her sisters Jessie De Angelis, Dorothy Harris and Cornelia Verver.  Marie is survived by five grandchildren, Carly Marie Ahlenius, Elizabeth Driscoll, Aubrie Driscoll, Rachel Driscoll and Corbin Hart.

   Burial will be at Ripon Cemetery on September 11 at 9:00 a.m. in Ripon, CA. A celebration of Marie’s life will be at Vinewood Community Church, 1900 W. Vine Street, Lodi, CA at 11:00am. Memorial gifts in Marie Van Veldhuizen’s name to Vinewood Community Church, 1900 W. Vine St., Lodi, CA 95242
