Kay-Hardcastle1-LT

Marilynn “Kay” Hardcastle, 67, of Manteca, California, passed away at home surrounded by her husband and children on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, after a long battle with cancer.  She was born on August 2, 1945 in Roswell, New Mexico to William “Dub” & Myrtle Skipper.

Kay was raised in Roswell and came to California with her husband, Argie in 1964.  She enjoyed her role as a stay at home mom for several years, before becoming an account manager for Curt Hughes’ car dealership.  She then worked for the Lions Club International for 6 years, setting up camps for deaf children before eventually serving as an office manager for Kathleen Longton’s CPA business, until her retirement in 2012.

She was an avid bowler, belonging to Manteca Bowl’s Tuesday Twister’s for over 43 years and serving as their president for some 35 years.  She was also all her family’s biggest fan at all their sporting events throughout the years, enjoying watching softball, baseball, volleyball and basketball.  She enjoyed traveling, especially her trips with her parents to various US sites.  Her trips with her sisters to Hawaii were also very dear to her. Her greatest joys though, were when everybody got together for holidays or Sunday dinners.

Kay’s most beloved thing in the world was her family and all the friends that she considered her family.  She knew no strangers and treated all she met with a tender kindness that just drew you to her.  Everybody was welcome and accepted with her.  She was the matriarch that kept everybody together, fostering a home full of love and tradition.  To her family she was a truly a perfect mom and grandma. All those who knew Kay will attest that they were, indeed blessed.  She will be missed immensely by so many.

She is survived by her best friend & loving husband of 52 years, Argie B. Hardcastle; three children, Cheryl O’Brien of Ripon, CA, Todd (Liz) Hardcastle & Troy (Christi) Hardcastle, both of Manteca; 9 grandchildren, Ami (Nathan) Rogers, Alyssa Hardcastle, Kaylee O’Brien, Cady Hardcastle, Christian Hardcastle, Emily O’Brien, Sarah Hardcastle, Brayden Hardcastle & Derek Hardcastle; 3 great-grandchildren, Trenton & Natalynn Rogers and Kayton Gomes; 2 sisters, Patsy (Tommy) Felber, Becky (Jud) Price, 2 brothers, Gary (Sandy) Skipper, Glenn (Crystal) Skipper, all of Roswell, and a multitude of extended family who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dub & Myrtle Skipper.
