Marion Lela MacDannald was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who loved to spend time with family and friends. She was born September 19, 1922 in Corvallis, Oregon and grew up in the beautiful Mojave Desert which later became a popular vacation destination for her dirt bike riding children and grandchildren. She moved to Stockton with her family as a young teenager and worked at the Kress Dime Store. There she met her lifelong friends, Edie Regello and her two sisters Lisa and Dolores. She worked in a large computer room during World War ll.
She later met Darold MacDannald, married him and had 3 children. Darold and Marion started several different businesses and Marion was always a part of the family business. She was adventuresome and always a good sport, camping with her family and encouraging them in their activities and interests. When Darold and their sons, Neil and Dayl, started off-road racing motorcycles and trucks in Baja, she headed up the pit crew going above and beyond to support her family in winning several championships.
Marion started teaching dog obedience classes with her daughter, Janet in 1980. She and Janet also showed dogs and won many ribbons and trophies. Marion led dog training classes until Feb. of 2009 when she fell and suffered a broken leg. Marion was a renowned professional dog trainer in the Stockton and Manteca areas.
Marion’s hobbies included painting, playing tennis, training dogs, and watching movies. Marion started doing oil painting with her friend Edie in the 1970s and by the 1980s entered some of her paintings in contests and won! Marion traveled all over the US, Canada and Mexico with her husband. She loved to take pictures and share with her family. Marion also traveled to Hawaii with her daughter, to Cancun with her friends and on a Mexico cruise with Darice her niece. Marion has passed on a legacy to her family of how truly important family really is and taught them to live a caring, loving and joyous life.
