Marjorie Smith, a resident of Manteca for over 20 years, passed away on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at the age of 93. She was born October 14, 1916 in Pawnee, Illinois to Arthur and Edith Schaefer.

Marge is survived by her daughter, Nancy Lewis of Manteca and her son, Stephen Smith and his wife Marilyn of Palo Cedro, Cal.; three grandchildren, Daniel Brown and his wife Kristy, Janis Jansen and her husband B.J., and Jessica Smith; seven great-grandchildren, Brittany and Brandon Proctor, Autumn and MacKenzie Brown, and Ryelin, Averyn, and Denay Jansen.

Marge owned and operated two restaurants in the East Bay for a number of years. She was a very successful business woman because of her hard work, and her strength of character.

After she and her husband Joe retired, they enjoyed traveling to Europe and taking several cruises to various parts of the world. One of their favorite places to visit was Kona, in the Hawaiian Islands, where they visited frequently. She also loved to travel in their motor home to locations where she and Joe could camp and fish.

She was an avid reader and a crossword “wiz”, and looked forward to receiving the crossword puzzle in the daily newspaper. She also loved to cook. Marge enjoyed her children and grandchildren very much and always looked forward to the “family gatherings” that they shared. She will be greatly missed by all her family and many friends.

A memorial service will be held at Almond Blossom Estates Mobile Home Park, 1901 E. Yosemite Ave., Manteca on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 12 o’clock.

Arrangements by Park View Cemetery and Funeral Home, Manteca.
