Mary Eleanor Bettencourt, 90, a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2016 in Ripon, CA.  She was born in Stockton to John and Mary Ribeiro.  Her parents were immigrants from the Azores and moved to their Ripon ranch in the 1930’s.
   She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank C. Bettencourt and her son, John F. Bettencourt.  She is survived by her children Annamarie Newton (John), Maryann Bettencourt, Dr. Ann Bettencourt (Jeff) and Frank G. Bettencourt; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
   Mary was an active member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.  She was a Eucharistic Minister and a member of St. Patrick’s Alter Society.  She was a member of MRPS, Legion of Mary, LUSO, The Catholic Daughters and the Ripon Garden Club.
   Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Deegan Funeral Chapels.  Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, December 29, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. with rosary beginning at 5:00 p.m. at Deegan Chapel, 1441 San Joaquin Street, in Escalon.  Funeral mass is scheduled for Friday, December 30, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, in Ripon, followed by interment at St. John’s Cemetery.
