Mary F. Brenner, born March 24, 1952, passed away at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 29, 2018, peacefully in her sleep at her home surrounded by her family.

   Mary was a native Californian, born in Hayward, graduated from San Leandro High and San Jose State.  After graduating with a degree in Nursing, she joined the Navy and served 

6 ½ years in the Nurse Corps until her first daughter was born.  She continued in nursing with a passion for Labor and Delivery for the next nine years in hospitals around the country, following husband Scott’s Navy career, the last one being Mercy General in Sacramento. Mary then got a MSW Social Work degree from Sac State and first worked for hospice at Fremont Rideout in Marysville. Starting in 2005 she worked for Area Agency on Aging, helping seniors stay at home out of nursing homes. She worked both as a nurse and social worker. This was her true passion and she loved going to work each day, helping her clients and caregivers.

   She was heavily involved in the choir and ukulele group at Del Webb. She volunteered at the Food Bank, St. Vincent de Paul, Flags over Manteca and Cpl. Palmer II Memorial Troop Support Program. Her joy was always obtained in helping others and supporting patriotic causes.  

   She is survived by her husband Scott, daughters Karen Beard of Ripon and Kristin Bastasch of Broomfield, CO, four grandchildren, her sister Cheri Joyce of Pleasanton along with two aunts, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

   A memorial mass will be held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church on Thursday, August 2nd at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, she requested tax deductible donations be made to Cpl. Palmer II MTSP, an organization she was proud to support, sending packages to our troops overseas. Checks can be made to : Cpl.
