Mary Joan Furtado passed away Monday, April 19, 2010 the day before her 80th birthday. She was born on April 20, 1930 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Frances and Inez McDonald. She joins her son in heaven David Paul Furtado.

 Ms. Furtado is survived by her daughter Joan Marie Fernandez and son Daniel LeRoy Furtado. She was blessed with 6 grandchildren; Amy Green, Danny Furtado, Jeffrey Furtado, Jason Furtado, Amber Palmer and Robby Fernandez. She was a very special great-grandmother to; Chelsea Green, Bella Green, Shay Furtado, Emmy Palmer, and soon to arrive baby Gavin Palmer.  In addition Mary is survived by her siblings; Loren McDonald, brother Benedict McDonald, Pearl Decker and sister-in-laws Ruth Cole and Barbara Haller.

 Mary lived in Manteca for 21 years. While raising her children she worked various jobs such as dental assisting, bartending, and cannery floor lead. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church of Manteca and the Manteca Senior Center. She enjoyed playing Bingo, Rummy and listening to her favorite Alan Jackson music. She loved visiting friends and going to the Senior Center for various activities. Mary’s family meant the world to her; being around her family brought true happiness to her heart. She will be remembered for her positive attitude, her contagious laugh and her easy going spirit. She will be deeply missed.

 Ms. Furtado’s services are being handled by P.L .Fry & Son Funeral Home of Manteca. A memorial celebration will be held on Sunday April 25, 2010 at 3 p.m. at First Christian Church 1125 N.
