Born in Racine, WI to the Rev. Edward Andersen and Marie Frey Andersen, Maynard was the youngest of seven boys, all now deceased.  He is survived by his wife Luella (Drummond) Andersen, married 65 years, his sons; Douglas (Linda) Andersen, Peter (Angie) Andersen, grandsons Tyler and Travis, great-granddaughter Gianna and great-grandson Athen, and Linda’s son, Sean McComb.  Maynard and Luella’s third son, Joel, died at age nine of leukemia.
   Maynard served in the Air Corp from 1943-1946.  He made 1st lieutenant and served in the China, Burma and India areas.  He was a teacher, vice principal, and principal in the San Lorenzo School District.  He was active in the Lutheran churches in each area the family chose to live.   He had a passion for golf, playing the trumpet, skiing, and enjoying his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
   Funeral services will be held at the Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Blvd., Hayward, CA 94544 on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at 1:00 pm.  A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 1, 2014, at 1:00 pm at United Lutheran Church, 649 Northgate Dr., Manteca, CA  95336.
