Michael E. Morris passed away suddenly on Feb. 23. He was 61 years old.

He was born on Dec. 4, 1949 in Sonora and attended school in Columbia and Sonora. As a teenager he worked local cattle ranches, pack stations and movie sets, including driving the stagecoach for the TV series, “Tales of Wells Fargo”. Mike was a professional truck driver for the past 43 years and was a long time Escalon resident.

Mike’s best times were spent with his family. He was known for his strength, kindness and determination. He loved reading Louis L’Amour westerns, watching John Wayne movies, PBR and listening to the SF Giants on his XM radio. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing cards. Mike spent his spare time raising and showing award winning Satin rabbits. He was president of Big Valley Rabbit Assoc. and responsible for co-coordinating the largest rabbit shows on the West Coast.

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Dolores and their three children Shannon Morris of Modesto, Mike (Angela) Morris of Albany Oregon, and Joey Morris of Oakdale. He adored his grandchildren Michael Jr., Samantha, Erin, and Christina, all of Oregon and Colby Lynn and Colton Lane of Oakdale. Mike was a loving husband, devoted dad and adoring grandpa.
