Mildred Womack was born in Wichita, Kansas September 22, 1921. She passed away on March 29, 2011 in Fresno, CA after a brief illness. Prior to residing in Fresno, Mildred was a 50-year resident of Manteca.

As a young child, Mildred traveled across the country with her parents and sisters as the family picked cotton and fruit on their way to California, finally settling in Calaveras County. She later attended Calaveras High School. As an adult, Mildred worked as an Ambulance Orderly for San Joaquin County Hospital where she met her late husband Ralph H. Womack. They were married for 46 years until his death in 1989. Mildred was also preceded in death by her parents Warren and Amanda Thrush, daughters Virginia and Nora, sisters Mable Pereira and Alberta Salmina and her good friend Leo Loduca whom she had known when both were teenagers in the late 1930s. Mildred is survived by her daughter Sheila Kernohan (Robin) of Fresno, son Ralph M. Womack (Marie) of Stockton, grandchildren Amy Holt (John) of Clovis, Trevor Womack, Sr., Lynde Munoz (Rue), and Jeremy Womack, all of Stockton. Mildred was also proud that she had 8 great-grandchildren. Mildred had a little known talent of being able to play the harmonica. Whenever she would decide to play a few tunes, the self-taught harmonica player would surprise many people. Mildred was an accomplished homemaker who enjoyed gardening and listening to jazz. Visitation will be held at P.L. Fry and Son Funeral Home on Monday April 4, 2011 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. Burial will be at the East Union Cemetery in Manteca.
