Nellie Mae McCurry (Anson), born May 30th, 1927, passed peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her loved ones on October 15, 2022 in Manteca, CA. Nellie was born in Cimarron, Kansas, daughter of Peter Ocy Anson and Nellie Mae Anson. She was one of 10 siblings, four sisters and five brothers. 

   In 1943, as teenagers, Nellie met and married the love of her life, Daniel Elijah

McCurry. Daniel was on leave from the Navy in WWII and after they got married, Nellie went to live with his parents. Their first daughter, Loretta, was born in Oroville, CA. Their second daughter, Susan, was born in Ukiah, CA. which is where Dan and Nellie spent much of their lives together and where Dan owned a commercial glass business. They attended the Church of Christ. Upon retirement, the two traveled all over the US visiting family and friends. For their 50th wedding anniversary they took a camper all the way up to Alaska and said it was the best trip of their lives. Over the years, they have given generously to family members and church congregations in financial need.

   Nellie is survived by her husband of 79 years, Daniel, her two daughters, Loretta Harris (Tom) and Susan Mowry (Bud), her grandchildren, Loralin Toney, Levi Toney, Tamara York, Daniel Mowry, and Leah Salerno, her great-grandchildren, Brandon York, Lana Mowry, Justin York, Malia Brown, Daniel Mowry Jr., Eli Salerno, Quinn Toney, Chloe Mowry, and Natalie York.

   In her final years Nellie was at home with her husband and was the recipient of daily doting and care by her two eldest granddaughters, Tamara and Loralin and great-grandson Brandon,. Nellie will be remembered for her love of family and for her lifelong partnership to the great love of her life, Daniel. Nellie will be laid to rest in the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery.
