Norma Jean Johnson, 59, entered into rest on Friday, February 12, surrounded by her loving family in Manteca. She was born on September 29, 1950 in New Mexico to the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert and Patricia Johnson.

Ms. Johnson is survived by her loving sisters and brothers; Dan Johnson of Pioneer, CA. and wife Ruby, Mary Jane Bartko and husband Jim of Oregon, Pat Fontes of Manteca, and Jerry Johnson of Danville. She adored her nieces and nephews as she thought of them as her own children; Bobby Johnson, Debbie Hillman, Jim and Eileen Bartko, Kim and Keith Abel and Jennifer and Mason Settlemore. In addition Norma had many great nieces and nephews whom she loved to spend many hours with loving and spoiling them.

Norma was retired after 27 years as a Contel/Verizon telephone operator. She was a devout Catholic with St. Anthony’s Catholic Church of Manteca. She was an active member of the Legion of Mary and a leader and teacher for RCIA both through St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. She was an avid bowler; bowling on many leagues in Manteca. Norma was an enthusiastic Raider fan; holding season tickets for many years. She was a charter member of the Red Hat Society with the “Red H-Attitudes.”  She enjoyed spending time in her yard, tending to each flower. Her Golden Retriever/ Sheppard mixed dog “Spooner” was her very special companion; he was always at her side. Norma was the best aunt and sister anyone could ever wish for. She always had a very special way of making each and every one of her nieces and nephews feel as if they were her one and only. Norma will be remembered as an amazing sister, a wonderful aunt and a very special friend to many. She will be missed.

Ms. Johnson’s services are being handled by P.L. Fry & Son Fuenral Home of Manteca. A visitation will be held on Wednesday February 17, from 1:30 to 5 p.m. followed by a rosary/vigil services at 5 p.m. both at P.L .Fry & Son Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 18, at 10:30 a.m. held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church 525 E. North St. Manteca. She will be laid to rest at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery 17871 S. Carrolton Road, Escalon.
