Patricia Ruth Briggs passed away peacefully on Monday, August 27, 2012, in Ripon, CA, at the age of 88.  She was born January 9, 1924, in Flippin, Arkansas, to the late Dr. Patrick and Belle Keeter.  Her husband, James W. Briggs, passed March 16th of this year (5 months ago).  They were married 67 years.  She is also preceded in death by her sister Madge, brother Joe B and an infant sister.

Patsy is survived by her daughter Sandra and husband Gerald Flinn of Manteca, grandson John Patrick and wife Carolee Flinn of Granite Bay, CA, and granddaughter Cynthia Kaye and husband Kevin Alavezos of Manteca.  Four great-grandchildren include Ashley Paige Flinn, Abigail Patricia Alta Flinn (Patsy’s namesake), Briggs Andrew James Alavezos and Ella Kae Alavezos.

Patsy grew up in Arkansas and married Jay when he was serving in the US Navy during World War II.  Upon discharge they moved to Riverbank and then Manteca where they spent the remainder of their years.  Patsy was a homemaker and especially enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and quilting.  She was a beloved and treasured wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.  She loved the Lord and spent many active years serving at First Baptist Church in Manteca.  There Patsy and Jay had many dear and longtime friends.

Patsy had many cherished contributions in life and one of the greatest was assisting with the grandchildren as Sandy worked, and she was affectionately known as “Granny”.  In later years she especially enjoyed the great-grandchildren.  They brought her total delight.  Papa and Granny always participated in family functions until poor health made it impossible.

The family would like to thank Sheryl Luukkonen and the exceptional staff at Beth Haven, Ripon, for their love and care during the final months of her life.  In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Beth Haven, 368 Wilma, Ripon, CA 95366, or Hospice of San Joaquin, 3888 Pacific Ave., Stockton, CA 95204.  All services were private through P. L. Fry and Son an online guest book is available at www.plfryandson.com.
