Pearl B.”Byrdie” Brooks passed away peacefully at the age of 92.  She was a resident of Manteca for 47 years.

Byrdie was born in Oswego, TN, the oldest of Herman Stanley and Golda Mae Byrd’s 5 children.  She was a WWII veteran of the WAC, serving in the Military Intelligence Division of the War Department.  In 1986 Byrdie retired from a civil service career at Sharpe Army Depot where she received a Special Act Award for exceptional performance and efficiency.

She was a lifelong lover of learning, fabulous cook and collector of dolls.  Byrdie was devoted to her family and loved having her grandchildren and great-grandchildren spend time in her home.  She was a member of the Northland Ward of the LDS Church.

She is survived by her sister, Faye Wolfe, of Claremont, CA; sons Ron (Portia) of Modesto and Larry of Alameda; 7 grandchildren - Amy, Melissa, Jayme, Stephen, Annie, Jill and Evan;14 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and her caregiver, Catina. She was preceded in death by her husband Homer; sisters Juanita Cook and Jewel Vinsant; brother Lt. Col. Herman E. Byrd and grandson Bryon Brooks.

Private burial.  Memorial Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, LDS Church, 1233 Northgate Drive, Manteca.  Eaton Family Funeral Service is in charge.
