Pete Arizcuren was born in Pittsburg, CA. October 6, 1934, to Pete C. and Marie Arizcuren. He passed away in Manteca, January 9, 2014 at the age of 79.  He leaves daughter Denise Brite, Las Cruces New Mexico, brother Jack Arizcuren (Janice) Manteca, nephews John Arizcuren (Lisa) Granite Bay, CA, Jacques P. Arizcuren (Sharon), Bethlehem, PA, niece Joanne Arizcuren Jannink, O’Fallon, Ill, great nieces Jillian and Juliet Arizcuren, Granite Bay, and great nephews Jesse, Jack, Johnny Jannink, O’Fallon, Il.
   Pete moved from Pittsburg, CA to Orange Blossom Rd. Oakdale, whereas a young boy, he helped his mother with farm duties and when not in school helped his father tend to his flock of 2,000 sheep.
   In 1946 his parents purchased a local grocery market in Manteca and later became co-owner and operator in the family business.  Pete graduated from Manteca High School in 1952 where he was an outstanding baseball player and also played the trumpet in the school band.  He attended Modesto Junior College, also playing baseball, before joining the US Air force, stationed at Lackland airbase. During the Korean War he was sent to Miaswa, Japan, where he was a radio operator specializing in Morse Code. He also played in the Air Force base band.  He returned to Manteca where he joined the family grocery business.  Pete was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War. One of his greatest pleasures was his membership at Spring Creek CC in Ripon where he was a member over 26 years. He passed his great love of golf to his nephews with whom he spent many hours taking them to golf lessons and encouraging in their game.  He loved duck hunting in the Los Banos area and salmon fishing with his brother in the ocean.
   Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Ministry Stockton, CA., or to your favorite charity.
   P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Arizcuren family. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 17, held at  St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 525 North Street, Manteca. CA. Interment to follow at St. John’s Cemetery Escalon, CA.
