Peter Joseph Riley, 74, entered into rest on April 4, 2010 in Manteca, California. He was born on February 19, 1936 in Freeport, New York. He joins his grandson Sean Riley in heaven.
Mr. Riley is survived by his loving wife of 15 years Marlene Riley. His children are Peter Riley and wife Dorit of NY., Karen Martin and husband Greg of FL., Jaclyn Traster of FL., Jill Springer and husband Terry of FL., Nicole Riley of FL., Craig Riley and wife Kristy of FL., Gloria Jean Love of FL., Deborah Ackerman and husband Sam of Livermore, Michelle Shaw and husband Richard of Livermore, Teresa Castro and husband Peter of Manteca, and Denise Brierly and husband John of Manteca. He was blessed by 24 grandchildren: Brian, Jared and wife Justine, Brittany, Thomas, Alexandria, Jillian, Taylor, Tyler, Brandon, Dean, Madeline, Baylor, Kevin, Bryan, Lauren, Kaela, Jack, Sydnee, Emma, Stella, Jacob, Brandon, Lilly and Gracie. In addition Peter has two surviving siblings, Steven Woods and wife Carol of Garden City and Joanne Martin and husband Bill of Freeport.
Peter was a resident of Manteca for 3 years. Previously of Ione, he attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sutter Creek, where he served as an Extraordinary Minister and Lecter. Peter retired after 32 years from BF Goodrich as an Aerospace Service Representative for the west coast region of the United States. He proudly served his country under the United States Navy for four years before he was honorably discharged in 1958. Peter was athletic by nature enjoying Racquetball, swimming, body surfing, biking, and golfing. He loved to relax and unwind with a good book after a long day. Peter was a friend to everyone as he was adored by all of his friends and family. He was the rock of his family always caring and acknowledging each of his children and grandchildren. He will be remembered as a lovable man who was easygoing. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Mr. Riley’s services are being held under the direction of P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home of Manteca. A celebration memorial will be held on Thursday April 15, 2010 at 7 p.m. at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home 290 N. Union Road, Manteca. A memorial Mass will be held on Friday April 16, 2010 at 2 p.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church 525 E. North St. Manteca.
