Randy Morris Damps obit

Randy, or “Damps” as he was known by his family and friends, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family on May 13th, 2023 after a short battle with cancer. Randy was born in Oakland, California on November 14, 1947 to Francis “Papa” and Vivienne “Sugar” Morris.

Randy grew up playing baseball, he was known to play second base. He played football and baseball all throughout elementary and high school. He graduated from Las Lomas High School with the class of 1965.

Randy was an avid bass fisherman, waterfowl and upland game hunter. He spent many years in his bass boat “KGB” and “The Silver Fox” with many family and friends. He and many friends would hunt pheasants, doves, ducks and geese. He loved to be in the great outdoors. He was also an amazing story teller, he may or may not have over exaggerated a time or two on how big the bass he caught really was or how many ducks he really got, but that is something everyone loved about him, he had the best stories.  Randy worked as a salesman for many companies including Georgia Pacific, EL Roberts Food Distributor, and Nu-Chem for several years until he became a real estate agent in the Manteca area.

Damps with his heart of gold, treated everyone like family, he was the most charismatic man you could have met. He was an amazing father and taught his kids to have a strong work ethic and to stand up for themselves. He was his grand and great-grandkids biggest fan in anything they did. Each one of them has a different but special bond with their Damps and they will miss him very much.

Randy is preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Paula Morris, father and mother Francis and Vivienne Morris, father-in-law and mother-in-law William and Virginia McRoy, brother-in-law Mike McRoy, and granddaughter Julie Dann Mello. He is survived by his siblings; Bob and June Morris, Robin and Keith Divine, David and Linda McRoy, Marcia McRoy, Children; Jimmy and Kristen Morris, Wendy and Kenny Hoogendoorn, 10 grandchildren; Kevin and Crystal Mello, Cassie and Enzo Gasparini, Kenzie Morris, Emily and Keith Lipke, Madison Hoogendoorn and JJ Morris, one great-grandson; Owen James Gasparini, and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to say a special thanks to Seva Hospice of Salida for their amazing care for our Damps.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, June 23, 2023 at 11 a.m. The location is Escalon Sportsman’s Club, 25195 E River Rd, Escalon, CA 95320.
