   Raúl Jaques Barboza, 72, passed away peacefully in his home in Manteca, CA on December 14, 2014.  He was born in Montevideo, Uruguay on September 11, 1942 to his parents Aparicio Jaques Barboza and Altamira Sosa-Piriz. In heaven, Raúl joins his parents and brothers, Pedro Piriz and Walter Barboza.
   At the age of 11, Raúl was one of the youngest men to join the Uruguayan Merchant Marine as an apprentice seaman. For the next 30 years, he sailed on many cargo ships and tankers that took him all over the world. In 1984, he left his sea-going life and worked as a forklift driver for Owens-Illinois in Tracy, CA. In 1982, Raúl became an American citizen which was one of the proudest moments of his life.
   He is survived by his loving wife Anita Barboza and his five children, Stella Barboza-Dasque of Montevideo; Raul Barboza of Miami Beach, Florida; Amanda Barboza, Alejandra Barboza and Daniel Barboza of Manteca. He also leaves two grandsons, Diego Dasque and Federico Dasque, and many loving in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Raúl’s smile and loving personality will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
   A memorial service will be held at Park View Mortuary, on January 9, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. An online guestbook is available for condolences at www.parkviewmortuary.com. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of San Joaquin.
